Se ami gli spazi aperti, il Kerry fa per te. Nella contea il verde è sconfinato e sembra giocare a rincorrersi con la distesa blu dell’oceano. Il Kerry è una destinazione dove star bene, grazie ai paesaggi rasserenanti, al sorriso terapeutico della gente, alle atmosfere avvolgenti dei villaggi, al ristoro di una cucina golosa, agli esclusivi trattamenti benessere di famose Spa e non da ultimo grazie alla salubre brezza salmastra che soffia dal mare. Il mare dicevamo. Si perché con una costa assai frastagliata e magnificamente contorta il suolo del Kerry è proteso con lunghe lingue di terra nell’Atlantico ed è quindi prevalentemente lambito dall’acqua. La contea è una sorta di mano attaccata quasi per miracolo all’isola d’Irlanda, le cui dita sono una serie di penisole irregolari allungate a formare un complicato quanto scenografico gioco di insenature, baie e promontori. E’ come se la terra del Kerry fosse in fuga verso il mare, nel quale infine si getta con salti e strapiombi spettacolari.
Verificalo di persona lungo uno degli itinerari più panoramici d’Irlanda, il Ring of Kerry. Oppure lungo il Ring of Beara, che sconfina nel Cork. Se tanto peregrinare ti far girar la testa, decidi invece di fermarti in uno dei villaggi sul mare - Sneem, Kenmare o Dingle- e contempla da lì lo spettacolo, gustando degli ottimi crostacei annaffiati di birra fresca e accompagnati dalle note della musica popolare irlandese.
